Jengi’s first release of 2024 marks his debut on the renowned Three Six Zero Recordings. Following up the hugely successful ‘Take U’, Jengi vs GFDM’s ‘Da Feeling’ is a thumping addition to the young DJs musical arsenal.
AMSTERDAM (March 28th, 2024) – Dutch DJ and producer Jengi is debuting on Three Six Zero Recording with the revival of a 90s house classic The Feeling by Sweet Tee and Tin Tin Out the original project of founding GFDM member Darren Stokes. Inspired by the early days house movement, Da Feeling mixes nostalgia with the cutting-edge contemporary production we’ve grown accustomed to from Jengi. Da Feeling is a celebration of an iconic vocal by Sweet Tee from ‘87, which was sampled on the original I Got This Feeling. Jengi’s cut manages to keep that vocal front and centre, staying true to the original.
Da Feeling marks the first release of the year for Jengi, and his first musical output in about six months time. Albeit a thumping tech-house cut, Jengi switches things up on Da Feeling in comparison to his earlier work. “After a rollercoaster year post Bel Mercy, I have been slowly changing my bpm’s back to where I started my musical journey.” Jengi mentions about the process behind his upcoming single. “Even though I was too young to experience the late 80s / 90s, I am fascinated by this house era and the groovy & melodic tracks that were created in that period of time. With Da Feeling I have tried to bring back a little flavour of that time with the vocals of old school rapper Sweet Tee.”
Jengi’s name is one that has been hard to avoid in recent times. The young DJ and producer’s music has become increasingly dominant on the airwaves as well as on streaming platforms while the stages he’s performing have only grown bigger. Over the next couple of months, Jengi has performances scheduled at Tomorrowland Winter as well as club shows in Amsterdam’s Melkweg, London’s legendary Ministry of Sound and Elsewhere in Brooklyn.
