Today, rising American, Ibiza-based house/techno star, Airrica, who has been making noise around the globe this past year with releases on Diplo’s Higher Ground, B2B sets with TSHA, performances at Tomorrowland, Fabric, and more, releases her debut solo EP. Hi Speed Lover, out now on Damian Lazarus’s Crosstown Rebels label, features remixes from boundary-pushing DJ/producer Nick Morgan and hotly-tipped talent KinAhau.
Bumping and trippy, “Hi Speed Lover” is a snaking, bass-heavy cut loaded with energy as warped vocals are accompanied by slinking drums, icy hats, and resonant chords and strings, while Nick Morgan’s take brings a stylish, hazy glow to the track as dubby low-ends and delicate keys work amongst the mix. The second original, “Cherries,” is another impactful production merging metallic drums with further vocal murmurs and an infectious acid-dipped bassline, while KinAhau’s remix strips things back to deliver a classy journey through rich textures with an ethereal trip to close the package.
“My inspiration for these tracks came from the pure fun of getting lost on the dance floor; specifically those moments where the whole room is bouncing along joyfully. I love those moments where a break strips back, a sassy vocal takes the spotlight, and you can feel the energy of the night building upwards. ‘Hi Speed Lover’ features the fierce voice of Jazz Alonso whilst I experimented with my own vocals on Cherries.” — Airrica

Born and raised in the quiet state of New Hampshire, Airrica grew up without a community to share her love of electronic music with. She spent much of her time online, downloading trance and hardstyle tracks from MySpace and Limewire, before she got her first taste of warehouse parties while in college in Boston. Once she graduated (with a degree in physics), she followed her heart to Los Angeles, cutting her teeth as a DJ at underground parties like Sound, Incognito and Raspoutine.
While living in Tulum several years ago, Airrica scored a residency at the nightclub IT, where she caught the attention of passing-through headliners like Black Coffee, DJ Tennis, and Damian Lazarus. Following the club’s expansion to Mykonos, Airrica continued her residency in Europe, ultimately finding a semi-permanent home among the clubbing hotspot of Ibiza. It wasn’t long before she was being handpicked by those same DJs to consistently perform at DJ Mag’s #1 club in the world, Hï Ibiza. Her releases have been supported by Jamie Jones, Paco Osuna, Carl Craig, Pete Tong, Danny Howard
This year, she’s set to amplify her rise, with performances slated at Exit Festival, Junction 2, Cercle, Get Lost Montenegro, Awakenings, Secret Garden Party, DC10, Street Parade Zurich, Brunch Electronik, and Hï Ibiza.
