The life story of French DJ Laurent Garnier is now streaming on ARTE, the European public-service broadcaster. Titled ‘Off the Record,’ the documentary features extensive interviews with the artist about his early life and experiences, as well as testimonials from various techno luminaries such as Carl Cox, Miss Kittin, and The Blessed Madonna.

Directed by Gabin Rivoire, the film was shot between 2017 and 2019 and was first released in France in 2021 following a successful Kickstarter campaign. It is available to stream for free on ARTE until January 2024, with Spanish, Italian, and German subtitles available for non-French-speaking viewers. While some narration is in French, most interviews, including those with Garnier, are conducted in English.

For those outside the European Union, a VPN may be necessary to access the documentary. Additionally, the documentary may be available to stream on Apple TV, depending on your location.
