AMSTERDAM (February 28, 2025) — Internationally acclaimed electronic music producer Rebūke is set to make waves in 2025 with his highly anticipated album The World of ERA . A landmark release, this album promises to push creative and conceptual boundaries, further cementing Rebūke’s reputation as one of the genre’s most forward-thinking artists. Leading the charge is album single ‘Choose Life,’ a dynamic collaboration between Rebūke and “Digital Dream” cohort, rising star Linska, arriving today, February 28 on ERA.

This conceptual new release takes inspiration from the cult classic Trainspotting, reimagining Irvine Welsh’s iconic monologue for the present day. With futuristic aesthetics, deep basslines, and evocative spoken word courtesy of Linska herself, the artists transform Welsh’s existential themes into a modern-day festival favorite.  The new “Choose Life” came to be following Rebūke and Linska’s 2024 single “Digital Dream” and when Rebūke debuted the clip at a show in Edinburgh, Scotland–where the Trainspotting story takes place–it went viral on Tiktok.

“‘Choose Life’ is a futuristic take on Trainspotting inspired by Irvine Welsh’s story. The idea was to craft a narrative around contemporary scenarios whilst keeping the dystopian meaning of the original lyrics. After the success of last years’ “Digital Dream,” Ella (Linska) and I wanted to follow it up by reimagining the lyrics and creating something fresh and new,” shares Rebūke.

Adds Linska, “Working with Rebūke on ‘Digital Dream’ was such a great experience that working together again on ‘Choose Life’ felt natural. The success of ‘Digital Dream’ came from its blend of dystopian vocals and escapist instrumentals, and we aimed to capture a similar vibe in ‘Choose Life’— dark yet motivating, with a familiar narrator’s voice. We were inspired by the iconic opening monologue from Trainspotting, which has grown even more relevant today. By reinterpreting it for today’s world, we created a track with an existential message and an empowering truth.”

“Choose Life” reinvents Welsh’s original words for the 21st century, addressing modern themes such as streaming culture, automation, and the existential dilemmas of AI. The verses contrast today’s fast-paced, hyper-connected reality with the raw, rebellious spirit of the original Trainspotting monologue:

Original (Irvine Welsh): Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family… Choose rotting away at the end of it all… Choose your future. Choose life… But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin’ else.

Rebūke x Linska (Excerpt): Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking smart television. Choose wireless headphones, paper straws, prioritising mental wellbeing and streaming subscriptions… Choose saving up all your money to travel the world just to have the weather fuck up all your plans… Choose an existential crisis after asking AI to do a task in ten seconds that would have taken you ten hours… Choose your future, choose life.

The release of “Choose Life” and previous album single “Endless” with deadmau5 follows a busy 2024 for Rebūke.  In addition to ample studio time working on The World of ERA, Rebūke made his Coachella festival debut, appeared as support at Anyma’s groundbreaking Sphere residency in Las Vegas, and completed an expansive tour of North America’s most notable clubs.

With The World of ERA, Rebūke is set to redefine the electronic music landscape, fusing storytelling with powerful production. Stay tuned for additional details.
