Charlotte de Witte puts her signature spin on Scoop’s beloved 1999 rave anthem ‘Drop It’, reviving it for a new generation via her Époque imprint — a label dedicated to reworks of iconic nightlife tracks from the ’90s and early 2000s. The rework lands August 7, just in time to inject a jolt of high-energy nostalgia into summer dancefloors.
“‘Drop It’ is one of those tracks that never really left the dance floor. It carries the spirit of an era, especially in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. Reworking it for Époque felt like a tribute to a timeless moment in rave history. This one’s for the dancers, then and now.” — Charlotte de Witte
The original, released in 1999 by Belgian project Scoop (Daniel Maze & Jan Vervloet), is pure 90s joy: punchy drum builds, infectious synth stabs, a euphoric vocal warcry, and a melodic breakdown—plus a nod to Otis Redding’s legendary 1968 Monterey line.
Charlotte’s rework transforms it into a darker, faster techno weapon. The classic synth riff returns with added acid bite, while fluttering and juddering themes ripple through the mix. It’s heavier, more intense, but retains the unmistakable DNA of the original—complete with that huge breakdown and iconic drop.
